    The pay level for public workers who are college educated, is less than the pay level for college educated people in the private sector.

    For comparable jobs, you get paid less, as a college graduate, if you work for the government. And your chances of advancement and other job options are much less than in the private sector.

    There's a trade off either way. But as a citizen, I want competent, educated, well paid people working in government. I don't want to see our government turned into a Walmart, where crappy pay, minimal benefits and little to no job security sets the tone for the rest of society.
