IT’S TIME TO RAISE THE WAGE

Working families can’t afford to let the minimum wage stagnate any longer.

Tell lawmakers to do the right thing and support the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2013.

Why Unions Matter

Millions of unemployed and underemployed college graduates are learning the hard truth that a degreeUnion Privilege, in The Huffington Post
does not guarantee a job. “Coupled with the extraordinary spike in college tuition, the flagging economy that welcomed Millennials into the workforce means that not only are our young people graduating with far fewer opportunities for high-paying jobs, but they are coming out of college with mountains of debt,” writes Leslie Tolf, president of
“While the value of education for the sake of learning should never be under-estimated,” she writes, “the reality is that education simply isn't the answer to shared prosperity that many once thought it was.”
That’s why it’s important that young people understand the value unions have had in building our nation and still have today.
The beauty of the labor movement, Tolf says, “is that a decent standard of living, with the right mix of tenacity and challenge to the status quo that characterizes Millennials, can benefit their families, communities and employers as well—and at a time when the labor movement needs it most.”

STOP “FAST TRACK” DEAD IN ITS TRACKS

A bill to “fast track” all trade deals in the next four years, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement—the biggest trade deal in the history of the United States—has been introduced in Congress.

This bill would limit Congress and our ability to fight for trade policy that benefits working people by virtually guaranteeing all trade agreements, no matter how much they increase corporate influence over the economy, push down wages or offshore manufacturing jobs.

Sign the petition to tell Congress you oppose the “fast track” scheme. (CLICK HERE)
